Black Lantern Superman is a reanimated, corrupted version of Superman from the DC Comics universe, emerging during the "Blackest Night" event.
When Nekron, the embodiment of death, launched his assault on life, deceased heroes and villains were resurrected as Black Lanterns, fueled by black power rings. These rings targeted beings with strong emotional connections to the deceased, amplifying those emotions to drive them toward despair and death.
Superman, having died and been briefly resurrected previously, was vulnerable. His connection to Lois Lane and the world he had sworn to protect made him a prime target. He was resurrected as a Black Lantern, a terrifying parody of his former heroic self. His once vibrant suit was now a decaying, blackened version, and his symbol of hope twisted into a symbol of dread.
Black Lantern Superman served as a powerful and emotionally devastating antagonist, forcing other heroes to confront not only their fallen comrades but also their deepest fears and regrets. He was ultimately defeated alongside the other Black Lanterns when the power of the emotional spectrum was harnessed against Nekron's army.
