Biography:
Superman, in the New continuity, is the Kryptonian refugee Kal-El, born on the planet Krypton to Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van. Sent to Earth as an infant before Krypton's destruction, he was found by Jonathan and Martha Kent in Smallville, Kansas, and raised as Clark Kent.
Clark developed incredible powers under Earth's yellow sun, including super strength, flight, heat vision, and invulnerability. He ultimately chose to use his powers for good, becoming Superman, a symbol of hope and inspiration.
He first appeared in Superman Vol. 3 #1 (September , ). While his origin remains largely consistent with previous iterations, the New version saw a more contemporary and sometimes conflicted hero, navigating his place in the world. His relationship with Lois Lane was also initially different than established in earlier versions of the story, with the two not starting out as an immediate romantic pairing.
