Superman is a fictional character debuting in Superman #1 (1939) published by DC Comics. Born Kal-El on the planet Krypton, he was sent to Earth as a baby by his parents, Jor-El and Lara, to escape the planet's impending destruction.
Landing in Smallville, Kansas, he was found and raised by farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent, who named him Clark and instilled in him strong moral values. Discovering his superhuman abilities, including flight, super strength, and invulnerability, Clark decided to use them to help others.
Adopting the secret identity of Superman, he fights for truth, justice, and the American way. Clark also works as a reporter for the Daily Planet in Metropolis, concealing his true identity from his colleagues, including Lois Lane.
