Superman, in the context of the Injustice universe, is a vastly different figure than the traditional hero. Introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us, a video game released in 2013, this Superman begins as the iconic protector of Earth.
However, tragedy strikes when the Joker manipulates him into killing Lois Lane and destroying Metropolis. This event triggers a nuclear explosion that obliterates the city and everyone in it. Devastated and consumed by grief and rage, Superman crosses a line he can never return from.
Believing that his immense power is the only way to prevent future tragedies, this Superman establishes a totalitarian regime, imposing his will upon the world. He becomes a ruthless dictator, willing to use lethal force to maintain order, effectively becoming the antithesis of everything he once stood for. His actions and descent into tyranny are the central conflict within the Injustice storyline.
