The New Superman, introduced in the DC universe wide reboot, retains core elements of the classic character but with altered origins and relationships.
Born Kal-El on the planet Krypton, he was sent to Earth by his parents moments before the planet's destruction. He landed in Smallville, Kansas, and was raised by farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent, who instilled in him strong moral values. They named him Clark Kent.
As he matured, Clark discovered his superhuman abilities, including flight, super strength, and heat vision. Adopting the persona of Superman, he dedicated himself to protecting Earth and its inhabitants.
The New debuted with the rest of the line in in August, 2011 with *Justice* and *Action*. His costume underwent a redesign, removing the outer trunks.
This version experienced a different romantic history, initially involved with Wonder Woman before his death and subsequent merging with a pre- universe Superman.
