Clark Kent, also known as Superman of Earth-22, is a version of the iconic DC Comics superhero featured in the 1996 Elseworlds Comic miniseries, Kingdom Come. This Superman represents a more mature and world-weary take on the character.
Haunted by the death of Lois Lane and the destruction caused by a new generation of reckless metahumans, this Superman voluntarily exiled himself. He left his active role as Earth's protector after feeling alienated by the world's shift towards embracing more violent and less morally grounded heroes.
He eventually returns to action when Wonder Woman convinces him that his leadership is needed to prevent a catastrophic conflict between the old guard superheroes and the new metahuman generation, proving his role as the only one capable of guiding the world towards peace. Superman attempts to bring order back to a world that has largely forgotten the values he represents.
