The Second Doctor, portrayed by Patrick Troughton, succeeded William Hartnell's First Doctor in the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who. He regenerated in 1966, marking a pivotal moment in the show's history and establishing the concept of regeneration as a means of continuing the narrative.
Visually, the Second Doctor contrasted sharply with his predecessor. He appeared younger, sporting a disheveled mop of dark hair and often wearing a bow tie and baggy trousers.
