Biography:
The Third Doctor, portrayed by Jon Pertwee, is a reincarnation of the time-traveling adventurer known as the Doctor in the British science fiction television series, Doctor Who. He was the third actor to take on the leading role.
This incarnation was forced to regenerate by the Time Lords as punishment for interfering in the affairs of other planets. Initially, the Third Doctor was stranded on Earth and forced to work with the military organization UNIT (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce) as their scientific advisor.
The Third Doctor is known for his flamboyant style, sporting velvet jackets and frilly shirts. He also had a penchant for martial arts, a talent for invention, and a love of vehicles, particularly his car "Bessie". His first appearance was in the 1970 serial "Spearhead from Space".
