Biography:
The Second Doctor, portrayed by Patrick Troughton, was the immediate successor to William Hartnell's First Doctor in the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who. He was forced to regenerate due to the Doctor's deteriorating health and old age.
This incarnation presented a stark contrast to his predecessor. He adopted a more youthful and outwardly less serious persona. Often appearing clownish and bumbling, the Second Doctor used this guise to mislead his opponents and mask his considerable intelligence and strategic capabilities.
His defining physical characteristic was his shaggy "mop top" hairstyle. He often wore a bow tie, baggy trousers held up by suspenders, and a slightly ill-fitting jacket, completing his whimsical image.
Key companions during his era included Jamie McCrimmon, a Scottish Highlander, and Zoe Heriot, a brilliant mathematician. Their relationships with the Doctor showcased his protective nature and his willingness to learn from others.
The Second Doctor's era explored themes of power, manipulation, and the importance of standing up for what is right, even in the face of overwhelming odds. His stories often featured iconic monsters like the Cybermen and the Ice Warriors.
Ultimately, the Second Doctor was captured by the Time Lords for breaking their non-interference law. As punishment, he was forced to regenerate and exiled to Earth.
