The Seventh Doctor, portrayed by Sylvester McCoy, was the seventh incarnation of the Doctor, a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, who travels through time and space in his TARDIS. He took over the role in 1987, following Colin Baker's departure, and remained until the series' initial cancellation in 1989. He made a final appearance in the 1996 television movie.
