Biography:
The War Doctor, portrayed by John Hurt, is a incarnation of the Doctor from the BBC TV Show Doctor Who, existing between the Eighth and Ninth Doctors. He was created due to the Eighth Doctor's refusal to participate in the Time War, a devastating conflict between the Time Lords and the Daleks.
Desperate times required a different approach. The Eighth Doctor, played by Paul McGann, was forced to regenerate into a warrior to end the war. This Doctor, rejecting the name "Doctor" due to the morally compromising actions he took, became known as the War Doctor.
His first on-screen appearance was in the mini-episode "The Night of the Doctor" (2013), preceding the show's 50th-anniversary special. The War Doctor's primary role was in "The Day of the Doctor" (2013), where he ultimately chose to use a weapon of mass destruction that seemingly destroyed both the Time Lords and the Daleks, ending the Time War.
