Darth Revan is a prominent character in the Star Wars expanded universe, specifically the Old Republic era. He first appeared in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic in 2003.
Originally a Jedi Knight, Revan was a charismatic and skilled leader who defied the Jedi Council's orders to intervene in the Mandalorian Wars. He believed the Republic needed protection and took matters into his own hands, rallying a large force to defeat the Mandalorians.
Following the war, Revan and his close friend Alek, later known as Darth Malak, ventured into the Unknown Regions and encountered the Sith Emperor, becoming corrupted by the dark side of the Force. Revan returned as a Sith Lord, launching a devastating war against the Republic.
Ultimately, Revan was betrayed by Malak and presumed dead, but was later discovered by the Jedi Council, his memory wiped. The Jedi attempted to reintegrate him into their order, hoping to use his knowledge of the Sith to their advantage. Revan's complex past and redemption arc make him a compelling figure in Star Wars lore.
