Darth Revan is a prominent figure in the Star Wars Legends continuity, specifically the Old Republic era. First appearing in the 2003 video game *Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic*, Revan's history is one of dramatic shifts between light and dark.
Originally a Jedi Knight, Revan led Republic forces against the Mandalorian invaders, eventually defeating them. Driven by a desire to protect the Republic, Revan and his friend Malak ventured into the Unknown Regions, where they encountered a powerful Sith influence and fell to the dark side. Revan returned as a Sith Lord, leading a war against the Republic.
Betrayed by Malak, Revan was left for dead and subsequently recovered by the Jedi Order. Stripped of his memories, he was retrained as a Jedi, tasked with defeating Malak. Throughout *Knights of the Old Republic*, the player controls Revan's new Jedi life, making choices that ultimately determine whether he embraces the light or succumbs to the darkness once more, deciding the fate of the galaxy.
