Darth Revan is a prominent figure in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, particularly within the "Old Republic" era. His first appearance was in the 2003 video game *Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic*.
Originally a Jedi Knight, Revan was a charismatic and brilliant strategist who, along with his friend Malak, defied the Jedi Council's orders to intervene in the Mandalorian Wars. They gathered a following and ultimately defeated the Mandalorians.
However, their journey into the Unknown Regions led them to the dark side, where they became Sith Lords. Revan, as Darth Revan, returned to the Republic with a massive Sith fleet, initiating the Jedi Civil War. He was eventually betrayed by Malak, losing his memory and being captured by the Jedi. They then manipulated his mind to fight for the lightside.
Throughout the game, the player controls Revan, unaware of his true identity, and makes choices that determine whether he will embrace the light or succumb to the dark side once more.
