Biography:

Ant-Man is a Marvel Comics character with the ability to shrink to ant-size and increase in strength. There have been multiple individuals who have used the name Ant-Man within the comics. The first appearance of Ant-Man was in Tales to Astonish #27 (January 1962) where the character was scientist Hank Pym.

Hank Pym discovers "Pym Particles," which allow him to alter his size. He initially uses this technology to become Ant-Man, shrinking down to ant size to fight crime. He would later be known as Giant-Man and Yellowjacket. These changes use what would now be called Particle Manipulator technology.

Other characters who have used the Ant-Man moniker include Scott Lang, who stole the Ant-Man suit from Pym and later became a hero in his own right. The Ant-Man mantle is a complex one that has seen numerous characters come and go.
