Green Lantern
Alias:
Golden Age Green Lantern
Brand:
BigKidBrix
Theme:
DC
Biography:
Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern, is a founding member of the Justice Society of America and a key figure in DC Comics history. Unlike later Green Lanterns, Scott's powers originate from the Starheart, a fragment of the mystical Green Flame of Life.
In 1940, Scott, a railroad engineer, discovered a sentient green lantern. The lantern imparted upon him a ring, granting abilities such as flight, energy projection, and the creation of solid constructs. However, his powers were ineffective against wood, a notable weakness.
Scott used his abilities to fight crime and injustice throughout the Golden Age. He operated independently for years before joining the JSA, solidifying his legacy as one of the first costumed superheroes. Post-Crisis revisions established him as a distinct entity from the Green Lantern Corps, further highlighting the unique nature of his power source.
Alan Scott's personal life included a complicated relationship with his children, Jade and Obsidian, who inherited aspects of his powers. He later came out as gay, adding a significant layer of representation to his character.
