Black Adam is a DC Comics character initially introduced as a villain but later re-imagined as a complex anti-hero. He first appeared in Fawcett's Family #1 in December 1945.
Born Teth-Adam in ancient Kahndaq, he was chosen by the wizard Shazam to be his champion, granting him immense power derived from Egyptian gods. However, Adam was corrupted by this power, leading to a tyrannical rule and his eventual imprisonment by Shazam.
Upon his escape millennia later, Black Adam seeks to reclaim what he believes is rightfully his, often clashing with superheroes like Shazam and the Justice Society. He frequently balances a brutal approach to justice with a desire to protect his people and his nation, Kahndaq.
Black Adam represents a morally ambiguous figure, whose actions are often driven by a fierce sense of justice and a willingness to use extreme force.
