Thanos is a major antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reaching a peak of power in the events of *Avengers: Infinity War* and *Avengers: Endgame*. The film version of Thanos first appears briefly in *The Avengers* (2012) and is portrayed by Josh Brolin.
