Thanos is a major antagonist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), particularly prominent in Avengers: Endgame.
This version of Thanos is driven by a belief that the universe faces overpopulation and finite resources, leading to inevitable suffering. His solution is to eliminate half of all life in the universe to restore balance.
Thanos pursued the Infinity Stones, powerful artifacts that, when combined, grant the wielder unimaginable power. He succeeded in collecting all six stones and used them to execute his plan, the "snap," in Avengers: Infinity War.
In Avengers: Endgame, the remaining Avengers confront Thanos to undo his actions. This culminates in a final battle where Thanos is ultimately defeated, preventing him from further destruction.
Thanos, played by Josh Brolin through motion capture and voice acting, had a cameo role at the end of the movie Avengers Assemble, and a fuller role in Guardians of the Galaxy Movie, but took a central role in Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame Movie.
