Thanos, as portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is a powerful Titan warlord from the extinct planet Titan. His first appearance was in a post-credit scene of *The Avengers* Movie.
Motivated by his belief that the universe is destined for ruin due to overpopulation and the depletion of resources, Thanos sought to collect all six Infinity Stones. With the Stones, he planned to eliminate half of all life in the universe with a snap of his fingers, restoring balance.
In *Avengers: Endgame*, the remaining Avengers traveled through time to retrieve the Infinity Stones and undo Thanos's actions. After successfully reviving those who were lost, they confronted Thanos in a final battle. He was ultimately defeated and erased from existence, thus ending his reign of terror in the MCU.
