Biography:
Thanos, a prominent character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a powerful cosmic entity driven by a desire to bring balance to the universe.
He believes that overpopulation and the depletion of resources will inevitably lead to universal suffering. His solution is drastic: to eliminate half of all life in the universe.
Thanos pursues this goal by seeking out the Infinity Stones, six immensely powerful artifacts that, when combined, grant the wielder near-omnipotence. Each stone controls a different aspect of existence: Power, Space, Reality, Soul, Time, and Mind.
In the film Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos successfully acquires all six stones and uses them to execute his plan, wiping out half of all life with a snap of his fingers.
While not his first appearance overall, a brief glimpse of Thanos appeared at the end of The Avengers (2012) teasing his role in future conflicts.
Ultimately, he is defeated in Avengers: Endgame by the combined efforts of the Avengers and their allies, who undo his actions.
