Biography:
Pietro Maximoff, known as Quicksilver, first appeared in *X-Men* #4 (March, 1964) published by Marvel Comics. He is a mutant with the power of superhuman speed. He is the twin brother of Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Quicksilver's origin story originally established him as the son of Magneto, a prominent villain in the X-Men universe. This connection has been altered over the years in comic canon.
Quicksilver's allegiance has shifted throughout his comic book history. He initially was a member of Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants before joining the Avengers. He can often be impulsive and hotheaded, though dedicated to his sister. He has also been associated with other teams such as X-Factor.
