Moon Knight, also known as the Crescent Crusader, is a Marvel Comics character whose first appearance was in Werewolf by Night #32 (August 1975). His real name is Marc Spector.
Spector, a former mercenary, is left for dead near an ancient Egyptian tomb. He is revived and imbued with powers by the moon god Khonshu. Spector becomes Moon Knight, a vigilante fighting crime to atone for his past actions and serving as Khonshu's avatar on Earth.
Moon Knight struggles with dissociative identity disorder, leading to multiple distinct personalities that influence his crime-fighting methods and his perception of reality. This aspect of the character adds complexity to his actions and motivations as he battles both external threats and his own internal struggles.
