Biography:
James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, known as the Winter Soldier, is a Marvel Comics character created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.
Initially introduced as Captain America's teenage sidekick in 1941, Bucky seemingly died during World War II while attempting to defuse a bomb alongside Captain America.
However, he was secretly recovered by Soviet forces, brainwashed, and fitted with a cybernetic arm. He was then transformed into a highly skilled assassin known as the Winter Soldier.
For decades, the Winter Soldier was kept in cryogenic stasis between missions, making him a virtually ageless weapon deployed across the globe.
Eventually, Captain America encountered and recognized the Winter Soldier, triggering the recovery of Bucky's memories.
After a long period of recovery and seeking redemption, Bucky attempted to atone for his past actions as the Winter Soldier. He even temporarily assumed the mantle of Captain America at one point.
He has since worked alongside various heroes, striving to control his programming and fight for good.
