James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier, is a prominent character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Initially introduced as Steve Rogers' best friend in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Bucky seemingly perishes during a mission in World War II.
He resurfaces decades later in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) as a brainwashed and cybernetically enhanced assassin serving HYDRA. The Winter Soldier is a highly skilled operative, possessing superhuman strength, agility, and a metal arm that grants him incredible power.
