The Winter Soldier, also known as James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, is a Marvel Comics character primarily associated with Captain America. Initially Captain America's childhood friend and ally during World War II, Bucky was presumed dead after a mission gone wrong.
However, he was captured by Soviet forces and subjected to brainwashing and experimentation, transforming him into a highly skilled assassin known as the Winter Soldier.
