Reverse Captain Marvel, also known as Black Adam, is a prominent DC Comics supervillain and occasional antihero. His real name is Teth-Adam, an ancient Egyptian prince chosen by the wizard Shazam to be his champion, granting him powers similar to Captain Marvel (now Shazam).
Adam initially served with good intentions, but his interpretation of justice was corrupted by power and vengeance. He overthrew the pharaoh, believing himself to be the rightful ruler. Shazam, deeming him unworthy, stripped him of his powers and imprisoned him for thousands of years.
Freed in modern times, Black Adam became a recurring threat to Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family. His powers are virtually identical: superhuman strength, speed, stamina, flight, and the ability to generate powerful magical energy. He draws his power from different Egyptian deities (Shu, Heru, Amon, Zehuti, Aton, and Mehen) granting him the acronym SHAZAM.
Despite his villainous tendencies, Black Adam has occasionally demonstrated a sense of honor and a desire to protect his homeland, Kahndaq. His complex morality and tragic backstory have made him a popular and enduring character in the DC Universe, often portrayed as a powerful force balancing between hero and villain.
