The Silver Surfer, appearing in the 2007 film "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," is a cosmic being of immense power and intergalactic herald. Prior to his transformation, he was Norrin Radd, an astronomer on the planet Zenn-La.
He made a deal with Galactus to become his herald, finding planets for the cosmic entity to consume in exchange for the safety of his homeworld. Galactus imbued him with the Power Cosmic, transforming Radd into the Silver Surfer, possessing a metallic, chrome-like appearance and granting him extraordinary abilities.
In the film, the Surfer's arrival on Earth precedes a series of environmental disasters, prompting the Fantastic Four to investigate. He is intrinsically linked to Galactus' hunger, serving as a harbinger of destruction until he regains his conscience and chooses to protect Earth.
