The Silver Surfer, also known as the Cosmic Surfer, is a character from Marvel Comics. His first appearance was in Fantastic Four #48 (March 1966).
Originally named Norrin Radd, he was born on the planet Zenn-La. To save his homeworld from Galactus, a cosmic entity that consumes planets, Norrin volunteered to become Galactus' herald.
Galactus imbued him with the Power Cosmic, transforming him into the Silver Surfer. He was gifted with superhuman abilities and a surfboard that allowed him to travel at near-light speed through space.
As Galactus' herald, the Silver Surfer searched the cosmos for suitable planets for his master to consume. Eventually, the Surfer rebelled against Galactus' hunger and dedicated himself to protecting life in the universe, frequently clashing with his former master. The Silver Surfer is known for his nobility and struggles with the moral implications of his past actions.
