Captain America, the "Classy Patriot," is a superhero character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by cartoonists Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, he first appeared in *Captain America Comics* #1 (March 1941).
Born Steven Rogers, he was a frail young man deemed unfit for military service during World War II. Rogers volunteered for a top-secret program called Operation: Rebirth, where he was injected with the Super-Soldier Serum and exposed to "vita-rays". The process transformed him into the peak of human perfection.
Initially serving as a symbol of American patriotism, Captain America fought against the Axis powers. Later, he continued his fight against injustice and tyranny in the modern era, becoming a central figure in the Avengers.
