Sam Wilson/Captain America is a character from Marvel Comics, first appearing as Falcon in Captain America #117 (September 1969). Initially introduced as Falcon, a hero with a strong connection to birds and aerial combat, Sam Wilson became a close ally and friend of Steve Rogers, the original Captain America.
Following Steve Rogers' aging and temporary incapacitation, he chose Wilson to take up the mantle of Captain America.
