Sam Wilson, originally known as the Falcon, is a Marvel Comics superhero who assumed the mantle of Captain America. He first appeared as The Falcon in Captain America #117 (September 1969).
Wilson's backstory involves being a social worker dedicated to helping troubled youth. He became the Falcon after training with Steve Rogers (the original Captain America) and using a specially designed winged harness that granted him flight.
