Alex Murphy, later known as Robocop, is a fictional cyborg police officer. His first appearance was in the 1987 film, *RoboCop*. He was portrayed by Peter Weller.
Murphy was a dedicated police officer in Detroit, Michigan, brutally murdered in the line of duty. The mega-corporation, Omni Consumer Products (OCP), used his remains to create RoboCop, a cybernetic law enforcement unit.
RoboCop is programmed with directives to serve the public trust, protect the innocent, and uphold the law. However, fragments of Murphy's human memories and personality persist, leading him to struggle with his identity and seek justice for his own murder.
