Iron Patriot is a persona adopted by multiple characters in the Marvel Universe, most famously Norman Osborn. Following the Skrull invasion during the "Secret Invasion" storyline, Osborn, the former Green Goblin, gained public trust and authority.
He seized control of S.H.I.E.L.D., rebranding it as H.A.M.M.E.R., and formed his own team of Avengers, the Dark Avengers, populated by villains posing as heroes. Osborn donned a stars-and-stripes-themed suit of armor, a modified Iron Man design, calling himself the Iron Patriot. This allowed him to exploit Captain America's iconic imagery for his own purposes.
The Iron Patriot armor provides Osborn with flight, superhuman strength, and energy projection capabilities similar to Iron Man. The character represents a perversion of heroism, highlighting Osborn's manipulative nature and lust for power.
While Osborn is the most well-known, James Rhodes (War Machine) has also briefly used the Iron Patriot armor under duress, and other incarnations have appeared in alternate realities and storylines.
