The Iron Patriot armor, within the MCU, is a modified version of the War Machine armor piloted by James "Rhodey" Rhodes, portrayed by Don Cheadle.
In the movie *Iron Man 3*, the U.S. government, under the direction of President Ellis, rebrands War Machine as Iron Patriot. The armor is repainted with an American flag-inspired design, featuring red, white, and blue colors. The intention behind the rebranding is to present a symbol of American strength and security after the events of *The Avengers*.
While Rhodey operates the armor, it becomes a political tool. He continues to serve as a key figure in national defense, but now does so while embodying a patriotic image. The Iron Patriot serves under the President, with Rhodey still fighting bravely as always, despite his reluctance towards the new image.
