Biography:

Norman Osborn, the Iron Patriot, is a controversial figure from Marvel Comics' Modern Age. He first appeared as the Iron Patriot in *Dark Avengers* #1 (March 2009).

After the Skrull invasion, Osborn seized control of S.H.I.E.L.D., rebranding it H.A.M.M.E.R. and forming his own team of Avengers comprised of villains posing as heroes, the Dark Avengers. As Iron Patriot, Osborn donned a suit of armor visually similar to Captain America and Iron Man, a calculated symbol to garner public trust.

The Iron Patriot armor wasn't directly based on War Machine technology, though it served a similar role on the team, providing armored firepower. Osborn's tenure as Iron Patriot was marked by his descent further into madness and ultimately his downfall.
