The Silver Surfer, also known as Norrin Radd, first appeared in The Fantastic Four #48 (March 1966).
He originated from the planet Zenn-La and bargained with Galactus to spare his homeworld. In exchange, Norrin Radd became Galactus's Herald, seeking out planets for him to consume. He was imbued with the Power Cosmic, transforming him into the Silver Surfer, a being of immense power with a metallic, chrome-like appearance. His signature mode of transportation is a cosmic surfboard.
The Silver Surfer eventually rebelled against Galactus after witnessing the beauty and life on Earth, choosing to defend it from the cosmic entity. He is a noble and complex character, grappling with his past actions as a Herald and striving to protect the innocent.
