Jason Voorhees is the central antagonist of the Friday the 13th franchise. He is a mostly silent, hulking figure known for his brutality and signature hockey mask.
Jason's first appearance was in Friday the 13th (1980), though initially only in a cameo as a deformed child in Alice Hardy's dream sequence. He becomes the primary antagonist in Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981), seeking revenge for his mother's death.
Driven by a need to avenge his perceived drowning at Camp Crystal Lake, Jason stalks and kills anyone who enters his territory. He is often portrayed as virtually unstoppable, possessing superhuman strength and resilience.
