Wallace "Wally" West, known as Kid Flash and later Flash, is a superhero appearing in DC Comics media.
Wally first appeared as Kid Flash in *The Flash* #110 (1959). He is the nephew of Iris West, the girlfriend and later wife of Barry Allen, the original Flash. During a visit to Barry's lab, an accident similar to the one that gave Barry his powers imbued Wally with super-speed abilities.
Initially Barry Allen's sidekick as Kid Flash, Wally eventually took on the mantle of the Flash after Barry's death in *Crisis on Infinite Earths*. He became a central figure in the DC Universe, known for his unwavering optimism and powerful connection to the Speed Force, the source of all speedster powers.
Wally's tenure as the Flash saw him mature from a young hero into a seasoned veteran, dealing with personal struggles and cosmic threats alike. He is considered by many fans to be *the* definitive Flash.
