The Flash, as portrayed in the DC Extended Universe, is Barry Allen, a forensic scientist working for the Central City Police Department. He first appeared in a cameo in *Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice* (2016).
Barry gains his superhuman speed abilities after being struck by lightning and doused in chemicals, an event mirroring his comic book origins. This grants him access to the Speed Force, a dimension that provides his powers.
