Bartholomew "Barry" Allen, portrayed by Grant Gustin, is the central character in The CW's television series, The Flash, part of the Arrowverse franchise. He is a forensic scientist working for the Central City Police Department.

Barry's life drastically changes after being struck by lightning during a particle accelerator explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs. This incident grants him superhuman speed, allowing him to move at incredible velocities. He adopts the moniker "The Flash," becoming Central City's resident superhero.

Driven by the desire to protect his city and inspired to do good after his mother's death (caused by a speedster), Barry battles various metahumans (individuals with powers created by the same explosion) and other formidable villains. He frequently collaborates with his team at S.T.A.R. Labs, led by Harrison Wells (later revealed to be Eobard Thawne and various other versions). They provide him with technical support and strategic guidance. He also receives mentorship from Oliver Queen/Green Arrow.

Throughout the series, Barry grapples with the responsibilities of his powers, the emotional toll of his past, and the complexities of time travel, often altering the timeline with significant consequences.
