Biography:

Matt Murdock, portrayed by Charlie Cox, is the titular character of the Marvel Netflix series Daredevil. This version of Daredevil, specifically during his earlier vigilante activities, is often referred to as the "Man in Black" due to his initial costume.

First appearing in Daredevil episode one, “Into the Ring” ( ), Murdock is a lawyer by day who fights injustice in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City by night. Blinded as a child, his other senses are heightened to superhuman levels, granting him radar-like echolocation. This allows him to "see" his surroundings and perceive details others cannot.

Initially, he operates outside the legal system as a masked vigilante dressed in simple black attire. This distinguishes him from his later, more iconic, red-suited incarnation, marking a period of brutal, learning-curve driven actions. The Man in Black Daredevil represents Murdock's early attempts to channel his abilities and his moral compass in pursuit of justice, before refining his approach and embracing a more recognizable superhero identity.
