Matthew Murdock, also known as Daredevil, is a fictional character portrayed by Charlie Cox in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Matt is a lawyer by day and a vigilante by night, fighting crime in Hell's Kitchen, New York City.
His heightened senses are a result of a childhood accident where he was blinded by a radioactive substance while saving a man from being hit by a truck. This substance enhanced his other senses to superhuman levels, granting him a radar sense that allows him to perceive his surroundings.
Matt is driven by a strong moral compass and a desire to protect the innocent. He struggles with the internal conflict between his Catholic faith and the violent methods he employs as Daredevil.
Daredevil first appeared in Marvel's Daredevil series on Netflix, which premiered in April 2015.
