Daredevil, also known as Matt Murdock, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett, with significant input from Jack Kirby, he first appeared in Daredevil #1 in April 1964.
Murdock was blinded as a child in an accident involving a radioactive substance. While losing his sight, his other senses were heightened to superhuman levels, allowing him to perceive the world in a unique way. He developed a radar sense, essentially creating a "picture" of his surroundings. He works as a lawyer by day and fights crime as the vigilante Daredevil by night.
Daredevil is skilled in martial arts and acrobatics, using his heightened senses and physical prowess to combat criminals in Hell's Kitchen, New York City. One notable variant is Daredevil , sometimes known as Defying Demon - Black, who sports a black armored costume.
