Edward Scissorhands is the titular character of the 1990 Tim Burton film, Edward Scissorhands, portrayed by Johnny Depp.
Edward is an artificial humanoid creation of an eccentric inventor (Vincent Price), who tragically dies before completing Edward's hands. As a result, Edward is left with scissor blades where his hands should be.
He lives alone in the inventor's mansion until Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest), a kindly Avon saleswoman, discovers him and brings him home to her suburban family. Edward's scissorhands prove surprisingly useful for topiary, hairstyling, and other artistic pursuits, making him initially popular within the community.
However, misunderstandings and prejudice surrounding his appearance and unintentional accidents lead to fear and distrust, ultimately isolating him once again.
