Edward Scissorhands is the titular character of the 1990 film *Edward Scissorhands*, portrayed by Johnny Depp.
Created by an eccentric inventor (Vincent Price) in his mansion, Edward is an artificial humanoid. Tragically, his creator dies before he can replace Edward's scissor blade hands with normal hands, leaving him unfinished and isolated.
Discovered and taken in by Avon Bogue (Dianne Wiest), a kind Avon lady from the pastel-colored suburban town below, Edward struggles to adapt to conventional society.
