Benjamin "Ben" Grimm, known as Thing, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a founding member of the Fantastic Four. His first appearance was in Fantastic Four #1 (November 1961).
Grimm was a skilled pilot and college football star before a fateful cosmic ray bombardment transformed him into a monstrous, rock-like creature with immense strength and durability. He's characterized by his orange, craggy skin and a gruff, but good-hearted, personality. He often laments his appearance.
