Biography:

Benjamin Jacob Grimm, more commonly known as Thing, is a fictional character appearing in media produced by Marvel Entertainment. He is a core member of the Fantastic Four, a superhero team.

Born in January, Thing was a street-tough kid from New York City. His history of defending himself with his fists led him to a career as a college football star and eventually a test pilot.

Grimm's life changed dramatically during an unauthorized space flight with Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Susan Storm (Invisible Woman), and Johnny Storm (Human Torch). Cosmic radiation transformed his body into a grotesque, rock-like form. This transformation granted him superhuman strength and durability, but at the cost of his human appearance.

First appearing in *Fantastic Four* #, Thing grapples with his monstrous appearance, but ultimately embraces his role as a hero and a protector of Earth. He is known for his gruff personality and iconic catchphrase, "It's clobberin' time!"
