Wade Wilson, known as Deadpool, is a fictional character portrayed in the Deadpool films. Before becoming Deadpool, Wilson was a mercenary diagnosed with terminal cancer.
He undergoes an experimental procedure offered by Ajax (Francis Freeman) to activate dormant mutant genes. This heals his cancer but leaves him with severely scarred skin and enhanced regenerative abilities.
Driven by revenge against Ajax for his disfigurement, Wilson adopts the identity of Deadpool, a wisecracking anti-hero. He possesses superhuman strength, agility, and an accelerated healing factor, making him nearly unkillable. Deadpool frequently breaks the fourth wall, addressing the audience directly and acknowledging his fictional existence.
His first appearance was in the 2016 film, Deadpool.
