Biography:
Eobard Thawne, often known as the Reverse-Flash, is a major antagonist in DC Comics adaptations, particularly in the CW's television series The Flash. He is a speedster from the future, driven by an obsessive hatred of Barry Allen, the Flash. Thawne's actions are rooted in his desire to erase the Flash's legacy and become the sole speedster in existence.
In the CW show, Reverse-Flash first appears, though not in face, in season one, episode one, "Pilot" as a mysterious blur. He travels back in time with the intent of killing Barry Allen as a child. While unsuccessful in that venture, he does succeed in killing Barry's mother, creating the traumatic event that shapes Barry's life.
To maintain his presence in the past after damaging the timeline, Thawne assumes the identity of Dr. Harrison Wells, a brilliant scientist. As Wells, he guides and mentors Barry, manipulating events to ensure Barry becomes the Flash, all part of Thawne's elaborate plan to return to his own time. He is ultimately defeated, but his influence and ongoing threat continue to reverberate throughout the series.
Reverse-Flash's motives are complex, driven by a twisted sense of admiration and deep-seated jealousy. He views the Flash as his ultimate rival and believes that destroying the Flash's life will somehow elevate his own.
